Simple SEO Tips That Can Transform Any Singapore Blog

Believe it or not, there’s more to a successful blog than writing quality content. There are several other elements and digital marketing strategies that Singapore marketers need to be aware of. Here are a few SEO Tips that can increase your blog’s ranking in Google’s search engine.

1. Leverage your most popular content

If you want to ensure that each of your posts gets the most exposure possible, then leverage your best pieces of content. If you notice that one of your blog posts has a lot of links and the other only has a few, then link your popular content to the underperforming post. This may seem like a tedious process, but there are several plugins that help with internal re-linking, especially if you use WordPress.

2. Flatten your blog

When analysing your website, it’s important to consider its hierarchy. Your website’s hierarchy is determined by your categories, pages, and subpages. And Google tends to see your category pages as the most important because the crawlers encounter them first after the home page. With each additional click away from your categories, the hierarchy of the pages dwindle down. Unfortunately, this hurts your chances of being able to leverage your best content. So it’s a good idea to flatten the structure of your website–it shouldn’t be as deep, or shouldn’t take as many clicks to get to your content. This means that your content can be more easily found.

3.  Use nofollow links

It’s a good idea to save your link equity for what’s most important. In other words, just because you link to a webpage doesn’t mean that it should help boost that page’s ranking. For instance, websites like Wikipedia won’t gain much from your linking to them. Save your equity for what matters. In this case, you would include a “no follow” in your link’s HTML code. WordPress also offers plugins that can help with this.

4. Noindex pages that you don’t want to rank

There are also instances in which you don’t want certain pages on your website to be indexed. This is often the case with “About Me,” “Contact Me,” Terms of Service, or Privacy Pages. So noindex them. This can be done by adding disallow to your robots. Txt, a noindex meta to your page header, or a WordPress plugin. It’s also a good idea to noindex the site’s archives because they are a mirror image of the blog and Google frowns on duplicate content.

5. Get rid of articles that don’t rank

Does your website contain articles that are a few years old and are rarely ever read? Well, it may be a good time to delete them. It’s very likely that they are hurting your link equity. If for any reason you want to keep them on your site, then noindex them so that they don’t have an impact on your more popular articles.

6. Place your best keywords at the beginning of the title

If you want to give your post the best shot at ranking, then put your most valuable keyword at the front of the title. You should also be mindful of how you link to this post. Use the keyword in your anchor text.

7. Get rid of reciprocal links

It may surprise you to learn that not all links, even if from authority websites, are of value to you. And this is specifically true for reciprocal links. They give back the same link equity that they receive. Unless your promised think link to someone, get rid of it.  It’s advised that you don’t use a nofollow if you promised them the link as this would be classified as a gray hat trick.

Sure, you could always benefit from the help of a reputable SEO agency. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t take care of a few things on your own. The above tips can really give your campaign a boost.
